Old Goats Counting Down to St. Paddy’s Day Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub in Whistler
(Whistler, BC) Only a chosen few are allowed to touch the magical number plates used to count down the days in Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub to the luckiest day of the year, Saint Patrick’s Day. The “Old Goats” are the keepers of the calendar and they take this job very seriously.
The Old Goats are a group of men who have been providing daily laughter, comfort, and tall tales since the pub opened in 1997. The name of this group of hearty partiers is based on their steadfast daily pursuit of happiness while “grazing” on sweet, roasted Irish barley - in liquid format of course.
The leader of the Old Goats, Joe Royle, visits the pub daily to change the countdown dates on the tote board behind the bar. Rest assured, these number plates are hidden away in a top-secret location reserved only for the Old Goats.
This year, the fun starts early on Sunday March 17th, Saint Patrick’s Day. There will be live music throughout the day and evening supplied by The Splinters & Ruckus Deluxe. As with all Celtic gatherings, the real drawing cards to this Irish celebration will be traditional Irish pub food, the exceptional whisky menu and of course the most popular Irish beers available for miles.
