2013 Viessmann Luge World Cup & Viessmann Team Relay World Cup
December 2 to December 7, 2013
Catch the world's top luge athletes as they compete in Whistler on their road to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Wear your country's colours and cheer on your favourite athletes to a winning finish! Races include men’s and women’s singles, doubles and the highly-anticipated team relay races. The action-packed week will also feature nightly entertainment, and family-focused activities. Upload to the site via the Excalibur Gondola in the Village. Tickets are $10 (Children 6 and under free) and can be purchased at the Whistler Visitor Centre in Whistler Village.
Whistler Film Festival

From December 4 to 8, 2013, the Whistler Film Festival will celebrate its 13th edition as one of Canada's leading festivals, attracting over 10,000 attendees including 550+ industry insiders. Featuring innovative and original films from around the world and opportunities to connect with the people who made them, this year’s five day Festival will be filled with more premieres, star-studded guests, lively celebrations and unique industry initiatives.
Official Lift Opening: Crystal Ridge Express and Harmony Six Express

Over summer 2013 Whistler Blackcomb upgraded two popular lifts in the ski resort. Today is the grand opening for the new Crystal Ridge Express and Harmony Six Express chairlifts! The Crystal Ridge party will kick off at 10 AM on Blackcomb Mountain with a live band, waffles on a stick, representatives from Kit Kat, and an elegant ice sculpture. The new Harmony Six Express Chair will be launched with an official ribbon cutting ceremony and press conference from 11:30 AM on Whistler Mountain.
Whistler Presents: Winter Kick-Off

Meet in Skier's Plaza at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains in Whistler Village to enjoy a free outdoor film screening. The show will feature a collection of the Whistler Film Festival's short films based on true stories about Whistler, along with some of the top shorts from the festival. Or you can participate in an outdoor street hockey game, get your very own balloon toque or have photos taken with the beautiful animated characters. The family-friendly night will finish with a fireworks display at 8 PM.

Dress like Santa Day

Dress like Santa and Mrs. Claus and bring the festive fun to the slopes. A free lift ticket will be awarded to the first 75 people to arrive at the Garibaldi Lift Company, at the base of Whistler Mountain, in full Santa or Mrs. Claus attire. To qualify, skiers and snowboarders must arrive dressed in their very best Santa or Mrs. Claus costume. The costume must include red or black pants or a skirt for Mrs. Claus, a red jacket with white trim, a black belt, a beard for Santa and of course, a Santa or Mrs. Claus hat.
BC Cup Biathlon Competition

The Callaghan Winter Sports Club will host the first Nesters BC Cup 1 biathlon competition of the season at Whistler Olympic Park. Spectators are welcome with $10.00 entry fee to park.

Every Sunday night during winter see a spectacular display of ski and snowboard skill at the legendary Fire & Ice Show in Skiers Plaza. Whistler's best skiers and riders jump and flip through a blazing ring of fire accompanied by fire spinners, a DJ and fireworks display. An electrifying evening of free, live entertainment to watch with family and friends.

Whistler Presents: The Holiday Experience

The indoor family fun zone at Whistler Conference Centre provides entertainment for kids and parents alike during the holiday season. Kids can enjoy a mini putt course, table games, bouncy castles, crafts and video games free for 15 days over Christmas and New Year. Parents are catered for too - they can relax in the lounge area and enjoy a coffee or hot cocoa while the kids play.

Join your family on the ice and skate with jolly old St. Nick himself on the outdoor rink at Whistler Olympic Plaza from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm. Santa will be handing out candy canes and will be available for photo opportunities. If you did not pack skates, rentals are available for $5.00.

The 30th annual Christmas Eve Carol Service takes place at the Westin Resort & Spa. Hosted by the Whistler Children’s Chorus and Whistler Singers, this interdenominational celebration features traditional carols, choral music sung by the choirs and readings by community members telling the story of the birth of Christ. Come and enjoy the sense of community and ‘peace and goodwill toward all’ that this carol service creates. Entry is by donation.

Say goodbye to the old and welcome the new at this alcohol-free evening of family entertainment and celebration in Whistler Village. Wristbands give access to a range of venues with entertainment for young and old including family entertainment, music, arts, crafts, food, dancing and ice skating at Whistler Olympic Plaza.
Wristbands will be available for purchase from the Whistler Visitors Centre, Millennium Place, Meadow Park Sports Centre and online through Whistler.com in early December until close of business December 30, 2013. Last minute purchases can be made December 31, 2013 at the kiosk desk in front of the Whistler Conference Centre.
Part of the Whistler Presents: New Year’s Eve Celebrations, the New Year's Eve Kid's Countdown will happen at Millennium Place. Celebrations will include fire spinners, pop-up dancers, circus entertainers, live music, maple taffies, popcorn, cartoons, face painting, storytelling and a giant bubble wrap stomp and balloon drop for the kid’s countdown at 9 PM. Wristbands are required for entry and will be available from the Visitors Center and Millennium Place.

- Biathlon Series - Event #1

From beginners to experts, the Biathlon Series is an excellent opportunity to experience biathlon and test your cross-country skiing and shooting skills in a fun environment. Similar to a sprint competition, each participant will ski three loops of a course, with two shooting bouts in-between. These events are open to all members of the public, ages 8 and up. Cost to participate is $25 and spectators are welcome with $10.00 entry fee to park.

The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series is a freeskiing tour featuring slopestyle, halfpipe, big air and rail jam skiing competitions with $55,000 in total prize value up for grabs. As one of the only open-format event series, amateurs have the opportunity to compete alongside top pros.

- Peak to Valley Race

The Peak to Valley Race is a long standing and unique team race on Whistler Mountain. Teams of 4 (one member must be of the opposite sex and all must be 19 or over) will race a course which starts on the Whistler Saddle and finishes at Dusty's. The Peak to Valley Race has a vertical drop of 1,443 metres, with 180 gates and a course over 5 km long. Register in person prior to the event day at any Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations or Ski & Snowboard School Sales locations.

Known for his soulful lyrics and fluid piano skills, Royal has been charming the world one performance at a time. His latest album, We Were Born To Glory, was nominated for a Juno award, and many of his other songs have been picked up and featured on television shows.

- Sigge's P’ayakentsut Cross Country Ski Event

The Sigge's P’ayakentsut Cross Country Ski Event is the largest cross country event in BC and the family friendly event returns to Whistler Olympic Park this winter. The free technique race allows racers to skate 15 km, 30 km, and 50 km courses. This year the event will take place over two days with the main loppet on Saturday and the kids tournament and youth ski cross on Sunday.

Join Dufflebag Theatre, at Millennium Place, for a fun and interactive take on the classic tale of Robin Hood. The show follows the hero from his early days as an outlaw to leading the Merry Men in fighting the tyranny of Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham. Along the way Robin Hood gathers such trusted allies as Friar Tuck, Little John, and the lovely Maid Marion to rob from the rich and give to the poor. There is action galore, from quarterstaff duels to archery competitions, but the real excitement comes from the audience members who get to play a part joining DuffleBag Theatre onstage during the show.

This four heat race over two days provides a competitive environment for BC Athletes to showcase their talents as they aim to impress recruiters for the Canadian National Team and ultimately be named BC Champion. Spectators are welcome to come and cheer on local BC athletes Saturday 12:30 PM to Sunday 2:00 PM as they develop their sliding skills at the Whistler Sliding Centre.
