PAN PACIFIC WHISTLER RAISES OVER $9, 800 FOR CANUCK PLACE CHILDREN’S HOSPICE
WHISTLER, BC 29 NOVEMBER, 2012 - The Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre today announced a donation of $9,818.71 from the Claire Newell Suite program to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Annually, the team at Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre supports the Hospice and to date they have donated over $20,000 in combined gifts-in-kind and fundraising.
For each guest that reserves and stays in the luxurious, two-bedroom suite in Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre, named for Vancouver-based Travel Expert Claire Newell, the Pan Pacific Whistler hoteliers donate 10% of net revenues from the suite to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
Canuck Place Children's Hospice provides specialized pediatric palliative care for children living with life-threatening illness, and support for their families, throughout British Columbia. In order to provide services at no cost to the families, Canuck Place relies heavily on the generosity of the community.
“We are so grateful for the support of the team Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre. We are designating their support to the Pave Your Way Teen Family Camp,” said Margaret McNeil, CEO of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. “These funds will go to support a four-day camp for youth across BC with life-threatening illnesses (and their siblings and parents) in the spring of 2013 at Camp Squamish.”
“I have been to Canuck Place and toured the hospice first hand,” said Jim Douglas, General Manager of Pan Pacific Whistler Resorts. “I am so inspired by the caring staff and the work done for children, teens and families in BC living with life-threatening illnesses. As a father, I was very moved by the spirit of the house and the kindness of all those involved. I am proud of my team for making this vital donation possible.”
Douglas is a hockey player and an avid Canuck fan. He goes on to say, “I know the NHL lockout is impacting funding for Canuck Place, and donations are desperately needed at the hospice.” Donations can be made directly to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice at www.canuckplace.org.
