10 Indonesian youths from under privileged families had completed their "Youth Career Development Program (YCDP)”, an innovative career development training, in Sari Pan Pacific Jakarta on March 11, 2008. By learning skills over a 6 month period (since September 12, 2007), the 10 youths wish to live independently and also to support their families. Most importantly, they learn to avoid any form of commercial exploitation or trafficking.
This program is a Community Care collaboration between Sari Pan Pacific Jakarta and UNICEF. In the 5th year of the program, the 10 youths (4 boys and 6 girls) from age of 17 to 21, had training in Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, Laundry and also undertaken an English language course. During their training, they had been guided by the head of divisions and supervisors of Sari Pan Pacific Jakarta to develop their skills.
"This program is a learning program for teenagers, which we feel will equip them with skills for daily living. We believe that this initiative and innovative program will allow them to have much better career prospects in the future, and the hotel is proud to be able be part of this community project with UNICEF,” said Eldridge J Mac Ewan III – General Manager of Sari Pan Pacific Jakarta.
