"Of course, it's your stay!" - Pan Pacific Seattle's High Level of Personal Service Recognized at Recent PCMA Conference

Published Date : 01 Feb 2008

(Seattle, WA) --- They say, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” At the recent Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) annual conference held in Seattle, this January 2008, PCMA Chairman Ms. Sharon DelaBarre not only acknowledged the exceptional personal service at Pan Pacific Seattle but also individually recognized hotel concierge Jesse Marshall and read one of his poems as the closing theme for the conference.  In this case, perhaps Marshall’s words inspired more than flattery, but great inspiration as well.

PCMA has a delegation of some of the most influential professionals in the travel industry.  Attended by 2,800 this year, the PCMA Conference was housed at most prominent Seattle hotels.  For one property, let alone a single hotel associate, to be recognized in such “professional” company is indeed the most flattering and sincerest of recognition.

The Inspiration
In preparation for the 2008 PCMA Conference in Seattle, DelaBarre stayed several times at Pan Pacific Seattle and encountered Marshall on multiple occasions.  At one point, the two discovered that they both have a passion for poetry and Marshall was motivated to share several poems from his private collection with DelaBarre.

Struck by his poem “Circles”, DelaBarre chose Marshall’s sentiments as the closing theme for the conference. (download poem here) Not only did DelaBarre read excerpts from Marshall’s poem, but she actually distributed copies to the entire constituency of over 2500 as well.

Jesse Marshall
Marshall’s career with Pan Pacific Seattle began prior to the hotel’s opening in November 2006.  He started as and plans to continue in his endeared position as one of the hotel’s esteemed concierge.  A local Seattlite, he has held positions within the gaming industry and in private investigation.

Marshall attended Seattle Central College where he received his Degree in Sociology with a minor in English.  He has a great passion for creative writing and spoken word performance.  In addition to over 1,000 poems, Marshall has written a silent film screen play, is currently writing his autobiography (at only 31 years old) and is developing an entire act of spoken word poetry set to multi-media and music for a soon to be released production entitled The Storybox.

Additionally, as one of Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts standard property-level service features, Marshall and his team contributed to the hotel’s popular lists of “Things You’ve Never Done in Seattle,” which is used as a resource for guests who want to enjoy the city from a local’s perspective.
